Post-translational modifications of histones occur in distinctive patterns across the genome and are a key mechanism by which gene expression is regulated. Faithful inheritance of these chromatin states is important to maintain gene expression programmes across cell divisions. My research uses single-molecule imaging and biochemical approaches to study the dynamics of post-translationally modified histones during DNA replication and investigate how chromatin landscapes are maintained.

I obtained my undergraduate degree in Biochemistry from the University of Oxford, then remained in the Oxford Biochemistry department for my DPhil in the lab of Professor Rob Klose. My research combined biochemistry, molecular biology and genomics approaches to investigate mechanisms of mammalian transcription regulation in a chromatin context. I joined the Gruszka lab as a postdoctoral researcher in July 2024.
